CONTEMPORARY ART

WELCOME

I am constantly moved to paint the world around me as well as the world I create from my ideas and emotions. Painting allows the artist to revel in the act of creativity and come out on the other side, transformed. A painting is not just a reflection of life, but is in fact, life itself. A good painting should draw the viewer in and stand alone, whether abstract or traditional. I believe that art is the greatest contribution to humanity, telling our stories and giving meaning to life as we know it.

I have always been interested in the mystical world, Native American tradition and Ancient stories. Living in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, surrounded by wilderness, was a great gift to me as an artist. Now living in the fabled artist town of Taos, NM at the foot of Taos Mountain, I am more inspired than ever! My heart connects with nature, and through my painting I am able to find meaning in simple landscapes, birds and animals, while hopefully eliciting an emotional response from the viewer. Joseph Campbell said “Myth must be kept alive. The people who can keep it alive are the artists of one kind or another. The function of the artist is the mythologization of the environment and the world.”
